100 Migrations, A New Bill T Jones Project at UVA

Bill T Jones

The reason why I haven’t been active online this past couple of weeks is for a couple of reasons. A new job at UVA as the new Dance Production Coordinator, second, I will be a daddy which is the most important change. On top of this, the most time consuming reason is because of all of the above and also, Bill T Jones. I wanted to document my process through this amazing adventure but I just couldn’t find the time or maybe the energy to write anything about the project. The international dance company will be doing a week long residency at UVA. There will be a convocation of the arts at Old Cabell Hall, a symposium, master classes, a lecture/demonstration at the Paramount Theatre and finally, a performance on the South Lawn. It all started a long time ago before I was even remotely involve with the project. Fast forward to today, there are various offices ranging from Drama to Vice Provost for the Arts, Provost, Event Planning, Music, Studio Art, Vice President for Research and the list goes on all coming together to make this project a reality.

In this time of meltdown, internationally known choreographer Bill T Jones unites UVA. Wouldn’t that be great? It is a choreographer, an artist, a thinker that who can spark creativity to a community that has never been mesh together. Was there even been a convocation for the arts at UVA? No. Will there be one? Yes. When do you say?

Many people don’t know Bill T Jones and I would stress the following, … he’s smart and an eloquent speaker. If indeed the time are of change, Bill T Jones will surely create a buzz on grounds.

Have you heard? If you haven’t I hope you will soon…
