My name is Benoit Beauchamp and I am moving back to Charlottesville in Virginia. I was a Visiting Assistant Professor at Pepperdine University for the 2007-2008 school year. Pepperdine was a great experience and I am quite happy that I’ve done it and that it’s finish. I was mostly teaching production classes and mentoring students. Deep down in my gut, I am a lighting designer. You can see my portfolio on lightx.org. Before going to Malibu, I was a technical director at the lovely Paramount Theatre in Charlottesville, Virginia. I am a theatre practitioner that graduated from California Institute of the Arts aka CalArts. I moved around quite a bit the past few years. I was in Boston, Los Angeles, Charlottesville, VA with my wife, choreographer and teacher Rose P Beauchamp. I’m also known to be a French Canadian. I am currently living in Reseda, CA.

For the past months, I am working in bringing inFluxdance company to another level. My wife founded influxdance while in San Fransisco in 2001. The company is now getting non profit organization and we are actively seeking a space in or around Charlottesville. We would like a new home to create new works and also to serve the community. I am also working on the influxdance.org website which I’m always looking for better ways to make it look pretty.

On this web site, I will write about things I love and hate, my two cents. The layout might change while you are surfing. It’s probably because I like to play and experiment around with web site design ideas or learning some new code. It inspires me to create so hang tight while I’m playing around, it probably wont last long. It also will be the place where I post things about the theatre or something that I find useful for the young theatre practitioner or anyone for that matter.

I will also use this web site as a memory locker as I tend to forget where I find interesting material. I will likely write about my new found love for running and things I’m working on which vary from painting, theatre design to some random stuff found all over. I have been known to work on various computer projects. I am running Slackware on an old PC computer. I have a bunch of daemon running on that machine from webcam motion detection to a mt-daapd server. All of those daemon are open source which I love and would like to contribute to but unfortunately I do not code. I will occasionally contribute information about how I got something working but that will be the extent to my contribution. Someday I would like to take the time to learn how to code. I also run the latest OS X from apple on my dear beloved Powerbook G4. I will run this laptop till it decompose. I have already been through one hard drive and one memory stick. I’ve bought the thing in 05 which isn’t bad and isn’t good. I’m still paying it!

I am eager to converse about the performing arts or anything for that matter. Sharing ideas, comments and so on is what I am looking for on this web site. Feel free to start a conversation or email me something that strike your fancy. I will be glad to put it online.
