Jones Run, Doyles River Trail

Jones Run Falls

Saturday after noon me and Rose decided to go on a hike in the Shenandoah National Park. I wanted to get the national park pass and also at the same time exercise while enjoy mother nature. From the Shenandoah official maps, we decided to hit the Jones Run trail which seemed interesting. Let me just say this, the trail is great. We encoutered 3 major falls, both of Doyles River Falls (28′, 63′) and Jones Run Falls (42′). I did prefer the Jones Run Falls. You can enjoy the view while seeting on a rock right in front of the falls shown above. The previous day was when Ernesto pass by so the river were somewhat more energetic then before. We decided to do a loop and well, we got our feet wet at the same time. We blame Ernesto. The river were over flowing which was fun to go through. Usually, they say it’s not recommended because of the current. It was somewhat strong. Rose and I had a lot of fun. The water was really cold! We also did part of the Doyles River trail and it was very nice. Because we wanted to do a loop, we came back on the Browns Gap fire road which was well, uninteresting to say the least. The incline wasnt bad at all but it went for hours it seemed. I think Rose and I were out of juice after this 4 hours’ish hike. We were glad to see the parking lot after we hit the AT for a bit.
