My World Shattering, HD Failure

powerbook g4

My PowerBook hard drive crashed. Ohh mama mia.

Thank god I made a backup. Even with the recent backup, it was a couple of days old and I didn’t want to loose all those precious files I was working on so I decided to boot up a LIVE CD of ubuntu. I was able to mount the hard drive and copy everything to an external hard drive. Then I opened up some documents that I was working on from my wife powerbook. We match.

Now, I just need to replace the hard drive which seems like something only doable by someone waering white gloves. I haven’t try to open up my powerbook for one simple reason. I don’t want to trash it. I have looked online for a couple place to do the repair near my current living situation which is a story in it’s own right. I will probably settle with CompUSA which is an apple certified repair shop or Apple Solutions Consultant as they say.

I doubt that I can do the switch myself. I don’t have all the tools and like I said, I don’t want to [insert bad words here]. At least, if I take it to the store, I’m hoping that it will work again… I’m expecting for it to work. Unfortuneatly, it’s somewhat expensive and my warranty is long gone.

Help god of the powerbook!
